The European Association of Automotive Suppliers known as CLEPA, held the third ever CLEPA Innovation Awards Gala in The Hague, Netherlands on June 13, 2018. The gala event brought in participants from all over the world including the US, China and Germany. It was an intimate, invitation-only event with around 130 attendees. CLEPA represents over 3,000 companies supplying state-of-the-art components and innovative technology for safe, smart and sustainable mobility, investing over 20 billion euros yearly in research and development. Automotive suppliers in Europe employ nearly five million people across the continent.
The CLEPA Innovation Awards were organized in tandem with Deloitte and Navads’ partner Caruso Dataplace, in order to honor innovation and groundbreaking developments for the European automotive supply industry in the fields of Environment, Cooperation, Connectivity and Automation and Safety. As an unprecedented and inaugural move, an award was also given in each category to SMEs, to honor the impact that small to mid-sized companies have on the industry’s innovation and growth.
Plastic Omnium, Bosch, TomTom and Inteva secured victory in the respective above-mentioned categories. While Navads, Brigade and Voxdale are the first SMEs ever to receive a dedicated “SME Award” – in the categories Connectivity and Automation, Cooperation and Safety respectively. To put into perspective the prestige of the award, in the main category of Connectivity & Automation the winner was TomTom (1st place), Veoneer (2nd place) and Bosch (3rd Place).
This also comes on the heels of Caruso hosting a partner event last week “Caruso Partner Connect,” as Navads was honored there as a vital part of the connected driver and of future autonomous driving and altogether for future mobility. The point was made that voice search and the rise of voice assistants such as Siri, Google Now, Alexa and soon Facebook Assistant, are a good reason to be set in maps and navigation systems correctly. With the introduction of Waze and Google’s integrations within Apple Car Play this summer, this also raises the importance of being present within those systems.
Lastly, we wanted to extend a heartfelt thank you to our partner Caruso Dataplace, (which is a company that Bosch is a shareholder of) as they initially nominated us for the CLEPA category of SME. We also wanted to thank them for introducing us to the CLEPA organization as we will continue to support and honor their mission with consistent innovations in automation, safety and connectivity.
